Amoroso Gelato Flavours

WHAT IS GELATO?
Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream.  pretty simple.  but that’s where the simple definition ends, because ice creams vary throughout Italy, just as they do throughout Australia.  From the Italian south to its north, one finds very different frozen desserts.  icier in the south, traditionally - as it was historically a poorer region (and eggs and cream were expensive), as well as much warmer - where icier concoctions were simply more refreshing.  the north could (more) afford ‘richer’, ‘custardy’, higher butterfat ice creams.  T
hat said, in general, Australian experience gelato as lower in fat than what we’re used.  That’s changing too - as Australia frozen dessert revolution continues unabated.  Lastly, the genius of Italian gelato equipment is the ‘slow churn’.  a slower mixing allows for less air to be incorporated (as does a lower butterfat recipe), resulting in a higher concentration of flavor.  Now - we have GELATO.
